Jason Illya Orenstein DVM, MBA

Jason Illya Orenstein DVM, MBA

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Orenstein graduated Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He also received his Masters degree from the Pamplin School of Business in 1999. Dr. Orenstein has a strong background in medicine, surgery, and exotics. Upon graduation he worked several years in private practice and in emergency medicine. 


In 2006, he designed and built Gambrills Veterinary Center.


In a field where medical and surgical techniques always advance, Dr. Orenstein averages over 70 credits of continuing education yearly in order to stay abreast of the latest developments. He has advanced training in soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, dentistry, and avian reptile medicine.


Dr. Orenstein is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Managers Association), and AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association).

Ari graduated from UMGC in 2024

Jennifer Szymanski, Office Manager

Jennifer graduated from Appalachian State University in 2000, majoring in Business Management. She has always loved animals and the outdoors. She spends her free time with her children and pets. They enjoy kayaking and hiking with their 4 dogs. She also occasionally does rescue, volunteer, and service work. Mrs. Szymanski enjoys being surrounded by animals and is a true nurturer and caregiver at heart!

Veterinary Technicians

Leah A., Technician

10 years as a technician. 3 Year old son, a border collie named Bullet and a JRT named Cruz. In the summer you can find Leah playing softball.

Sam A., Technician

Sam has been working for us for 5 years. He goes to Anne Arundel Community College and enjoys playing hockey in his beer league. He has a great dane named Sadie. Goes to the gym quite a bit.

Zemira O., Veterinary Student

Zemira obtained her B.S. in Biology at University of Maryland College Park this past December. Zemira will begin Veterinary School at Ross University in the Caribbean this May! Growing up, Zemira’s passion for pets began when this animal hospital was created when she was just 3 years old. After learning how to walk, learning to care for animals came naturally as she spent so much time watching her father. Zemira has a bearded dragon named Zuko. She loves playing field hockey and video games when she gets the chance.

Karri H., Receptionist

Karri has been working as a veterinary receptionist for over 10 years. As a pet lover, Karri knew that her future after high school would revolve around animals. She has a dog named Ayla, and two cats named Ziggy and Whiskey. In her free time, Karri loves hiking and camping with her dog.

Naomi V., Receptionist

Naomi has been a part of our team since 2022, but her career in the pet care industry began long before that. She has worked as a manager for a kennel, a veterinary receptionist, and a pharmacist for over 8 years. After a day at work, Naomi comes home to her 11 year old son and her 2 dogs, Leroy and Buddy. When she is not working, Naomi loves to do hair and make up.

Owen has been with us for over a year. Husky names Queen puppy. Playing video games, working out. Resourceful, innovative.

Grooming

Jennifer D., Pet Stylist

Jennifer has been grooming for over 10 years and has seen the likes of dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. A devout animal lover, she has 6 dogs, 1 cat, 10 snakes, and 4 guinea pigs. She enjoys spending time with her husband, three kids and all her animals.

Dog Training

Gavin W., Certified Dog Trainer

Gavin has always been passionate about animals. He has been working with us for over three year and has years of previous experience in kennels. His love of pets started with his Pitbull Bella and his cat Annie. When he is not working in the kennel, Gavin is also training dogs. A recent graduate of the Animal Behavior College, Gavin is now a licensed obedience trainer and is excited to begin training your dogs!
