Exam Rooms -- GVC has four, spacious exams rooms. Each exam room boasts an electric table that lowers to the floor so pets don't have the stress of being lifted onto the table. Exhaust fans keep the room smelling fresh. Sound attenuated doors help decrease noises that could inadvertently stress your pet. Every room is also fully computerized so medical records can be update instantly and no medical records are ever lost. At GVC, the exam room is not just a place to perform thorough physical exams and discuss treatment plans; it is a place for your pet to relax.

Laboratory -- GVC has a complete, state of the art, in-house lab. We have a CBC machine to check your pet for infections or anemia. Our CBC machine is the VetScan HMII, a fully automated cell counter specifically designed for veterinary applications. The VetScan HMII provides a comprehensive, complete blood count in just minutes for Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Ferrets and five other species. We have a VetScan chemistry analyzer, which is an innovative, state-of-the-art chemistry, electrolyte, immunoassay, and blood gas analyzer with uncompromising accuracy from just two drops of blood. Our chemistry machine allows us to check your pet's liver, kidney, and thyroid function and assess your pet's overall health in just minutes. Our VetScan CBC and chemistry analyzers permit the veterinarian to complete a routine annual check up and/or make a timely diagnosis and devise an appropriate treatment plan in under an hour. |

Isolation -- Our isolation ward is designed to keep infectious diseases confined. It is used for pets with highly contagious diseases such as parvo-virus in dogs or upper respiratory infections in cats. It is a true isolation ward in the sense that once a pet is admitted they never have to leave except to go home. All medical procedures can be performed in the room. The air is evacuated to the outside so there is no chance of transmitting disease to other pets in the hospital. The isolation ward even has its own bathtub so pets can be kept clean during their stay. |

Dental Station -- The dental station is an area specifically designed to meet the needs of your pet's teeth. An ultrasonic dental scaler is used to remove heavy plaque and tartar deposits from your pet's teeth. A dental x-ray machine allows us to take pictures of the teeth, bones, and surrounding soft tissues structure to screen for and help identify problems with the teeth, mouth, and jaw. We also have high-speed dental equipment allowing us to efficiently extract teeth just as an oral surgeon would do. In fact, you would probably recognize most of our dental equipment, as it is identical to that of your dentist. |

Surgical Suite -- You won't find a nicer surgical area anywhere. Our surgical tables boast heated tops to prevent hypothermia during surgery. We have two, human grade, anesthesia machines. These are the exact same machines that you might be put under anesthesia with if you were hospitalized. That allows us to choose which anesthetic gases; Iso-flurane or Sevo-flurane, best meet your pet's individual needs. We have ventilators so that we don't have to worry if your pet is breathing during surgery, our machine breaths for them. Our surgery suite is equipped with a full range of monitoring devices including respiratory pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, electrocardiographs, temperature probes, blood pressure and respiratory monitors, Doppler, and capnography. Our human grade anesthesia machines and state of the art monitoring devices make performing surgeries on critically ill patients as safe as possible. There is a separate ventilation system for our surgery suite that supplies HEPA-filtered (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter) air to the room for a true sterile environment. HEPA filtered air means less bacteria and decreased risk of post-op infections. Our surgical lighting was taken from a human hospital's operating room and provides us with enhanced visualization during surgery. We have an electrocautery unit, which uses high-frequency electric current to precisely cut tissue with limited blood loss. And it doesn't stop there, we have German made surgical instrument, surgical suction, and we even have a defibrillator to help us revive your pet in case the worst happens.
Endoscopy – GVC is at the forefront in offering minimally invasive surgery. Endoscopy allows the visualization of structures through the use of special scopes and miniature video cameras. Video images are magnified and viewed on a monitor during surgery. Very small incisions are made which decreases your pet’s blood loss, post-surgical pain, risk of infection, and length of recovery. Endoscopic procedures are offered of the abdomen, chest, urinary bladder, ears, sinuses, colon, and joints. We are the only hospital in the area performing laparoscopic spays, which are proven to be 65% less painful. We also offer laparoscopic gastropexies, which allows us to “tack” the stomach in large dogs for the prevention of bloat.

| ICU -- Our ICU is designed for critically ill pets that require intensive monitoring. For patient with airway or respiratory compromise we have piped in oxygen. Our intensive care unit is centrally located in our treatment room adjacent to our doctor's station. You can feel safe in knowing that if your pet has been sedated, is undergoing intravenous fluid therapy, or is in the crucial hours after major surgery, our doctors and nurses will constantly monitor them. |

Radiology -- GVC has one of the most modern X-ray machines available. Our X-ray machine is a "High Frequency Unit". Unlike Standard Frequency machines a High Frequency machine takes radiographs in half the time meaning that a clear, diagnostic image can be taken even with a struggling, moving pet. Our machine has a computer with anatomical programming, so we just push a button and tell the X-ray machine if we are taking a radiograph of a dog or cat, chest or abdomen and we get perfect radiographs almost every time. We also have a 4-way float top table, so we can struggle with positioning the table instead of struggling with positioning your pet.

Surgical Prep -- Our surgical prep area contains everything needed to support our surgical OR. An ultrasonic cleaner cleans instruments using high frequency sound waves in a warm water bath. Ultrasonic cleaners are more efficient at cleaning instruments than hand scrubbing, soaking, or steam cleaning alone. Two large autoclaves heat instruments under pressure to sterilize them for use in surgery. We also have an Anprolene gas sterilizer, which uses Ethylene Oxide (EtO) to kill microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and even resistant bacterial spores. Anprolene Sterilizers have the ability to sterilize and preserve a wide variety of instruments and plastic and rubber devices that are sensitive to other sterilization methods such as heat, chemicals and moisture. We even have a washer and dryer which is used exclusively for our surgical gowns and drapes so there is no cross contamination from hospital bedding or towels. |
